The New Facebook September 7, 2008

A few weeks ago I logged onto my Facebook to see a little message on top advising me to try the “new” Facebook. So I did. About 15 seconds later, my little experiment was done. I really hated it. Nothing was where it should be, there was too much empty space everywhere, they had completely changed the main profile pages– allowing only about 5 profile boxes for your front page, and hiding all the other profile stuff- like info and pictures, on tabs. It was awful, but thankfully I could just click on the “switch back to old Facebook” button and it was fine.
So much to my annoyance, a couple of days ago, plastered across my home page, a message from Facebook read: “New Facebook will soon be the only Facebook”. And dont think I’m the only one filled with fury while already bemoaning its loss. Hundreds of thousands have joined various ad hoc Facebook groups which protest this forced switch vehemently, the most popular single group found here (I highly encourage joining). All I’m saying is keep the status quo: the progressives among us can enjoy they’re new, glossier version, while I and my fellow “old-fashioners” can opt to cling to the Old Layout.
Like/Dislike the new Facebook? Sound off in the comments (and join a few Facebook groups while your at it

Google Launching their own Web Browser September 2, 2008
Posted by Eli Blumenthal in : Computers , 1 comment so farFirefox, Opera, Safari or Internet Explorer not gonna be able to cut it for school? Well, then your in luck because Google today has launched their own web browser called Google Chrome. Google Chrome takes some of the best of all features of those popular web browsers and puts it into an open source format, allowing users to copy the browser’s source code (the computer language that creates and runs the browser) and use it for other programs not designed by Google. The browser is available today in Beta (test, early version) for Windows XP/Vista users, and will soon be available for Mac OS X and Linux users. I’m trying it out now, and will post a First Look review once I get to use it for a little.
In the meantime, get your Google Chrome on over here (again Windows XP/Vista users only), and feel free to let us know what you think of the new browser– and if it is better than the other, bigger browsers out there– in the comments.
Game of the Month: Hedgehog Launch July 2, 2008

Ok, heres a fun little flash game from one of my favorite little flash game developers, jmtb02, who has made another great little game, Hedgehog Launch. The goal is to launch a hedgehog into space, by means of a catapult and small maneuvering jets, and fly into money. That money gives you the ability to upgrade your rockets and catapault, and platforms, keeping you up a little longer. Your total money is then calculated based on how much money you collected, how high you went, and how long you stayed up. It’s a simple game, easy to beat, but its really fun, the hedgehog is awesome, and the music is incredible. Play it here. (if you dont like it you can check our games category for other suggestions– including making your own game!)
Find your inner Zen: a Classic iPod competitor July 1, 2008
Posted by Aidan Galea in : Mp3 players and iPods , 1 comment so farWe here at TeenTechBlog may often come off as Mac aficionados, but I speak for myself when I say iPods suck. That is, compared to the rest of the market. For a better price, you can buy a player with a greater range of features, and most often, with a greater audio quality! So, I am happy to finally hear word from Creative about an upcoming player. Word from epiZENter.net has it that Creative has unofficially announced the Creative Zen X-Fi. The company has taken an interesting twist in this player in adding some unique features which may pan out to be positive. The X-Fi is a player that assumably will be advertised based on the premise of Creative’s reknowned X-Fi audiocards, appealing to the audiophiles who want to carry their music on the go. Read on!
