AT&T Palm Pre Plus Launching this Sunday May 11, 2010

Posted by Eli Blumenthal in : Cell Phones , add a comment

Want a Palm Pre but not on Sprint or Verizon? AT&T users– your wait is almost up. AT&T has announced today that the Pre Plus from Palm will be available very soon, like this Sunday soon. (Note that HP is in the process of buying the struggling Palm for $1.2 billion– yes BILLION!)

The Pre Plus is pretty much is the same as when we saw it in March– 3.1 inch multi-touch screen, webOS, WiFi, GPS, 3G, webOS, 16 GB of storage and a 3 megapixel camera with flash and video recording– and will be available this coming Sunday, May 16th, for $149.99 with new 2 year contract and data plan. It will also come with a free Touchstone charging station when you purchase the Pre Plus in an AT&T store. As announced with the original Sprint Pre, the Touchstone allows you to just put your phone on the little dock, seen in the pic above, to charge your phone, i.e. no more plugging in cables (It costs $50 when purchased separately).

Honestly though, considering the Verizon Pre Plus costs only $29.99 on a new 2 year contract and data plan (and comes with free access to turn it into a MiFi like WiFi hotspot to connect other WiFi devices, like a laptop or iPod touch, to the Verizon network), I’m pretty shocked AT&T is charging so much, and am hoping they follow Verizon and cut the price real soon.

What you think– is $149.99 too much for the Pre Plus with Touchstone or were you hoping for a deal like Verizon’s Pre Plus? You plan on getting one of these? Sound off in the comments.

HP Slate – the iPad Killer? April 13, 2010

Posted by Zev Rosenbaum in : Computers, Microsoft, Tablets , comments closed

Back in January, we caught a short glimpse of the HP Slate, HP’s new tablet. Last week, Engadget uncovered some “unofficial” specs of the new tablet compared to the iPad. Later that day HP released a trailer of the Slate doing things that the iPad can’t do, including video chatting and taking pictures (that’s right, two cameras– one on the front for video chatting and one on the back for taking regular pictures), as well as:

Obviously, the Skype and camera features could make the HP Slate a thorn in the iPad’s side and we will see if these features will make the HP Slate more customer-friendly than the iPad (just as a note: HP hasn’t officially released a spec sheet of the Slate nor announced pricing, things– like pricing– is still very much rumor and subject to change). Check out one of the HP promo videos of the Slate, as well as the leaked iPad-Slate comparison sheet after the break.

If you were thinking about getting the new MacBook for the holidays you might want to hold up on that purchase. Best Buy and HP teamed up to make a 13.3″ inch laptop that could change your mind.

Meet the HP Pavilion dv3510nr:

The best part? The HP Pavilion dv3510nr is available for $1,099 vs. the MacBook’s $1,299, which means more money in your wallet.

So, are you going to go for the expensive MacBook or maybe consider the cheaper HP Pavillion? You can get the HP Pavilion dv3510nr at Best Buy.

Okay folks, here we go. We here at TeenTechBlog got our paws on one of the most powerful gaming computers currently on the market. Just to be clear, this is NOT something the average teenager, or even average adult will have. First that thing is enormous. Not just kinda big, but REALLY huge. It weighs about 90 lbs as well, and cost at least a couple grand. This is not something you see or use everyday. But it is FAST. I mean really fast. It scores about a 5.8 on the Vista speed test, and the best on that is 5. Just to give you an idea. We haven’t had the chance to try out any real games on it, so that will be forthcoming. Also, the thing has built in neon lights, which just make it even cooler. A full review will be coming soon, as soon as we can put this thing through its paces. And it might even run Crysis at 60 FPS. Maybe.
