Tap Defense- Review December 14, 2008

Okay, so as you probably know by now, there are several, no thousands of games available for the iPhone/iPod Touch from the App Store. After having my iPod for about a month now, I’ve downloaded/played most of the cool, top games out there, only to be a little sad when I beat it or when it lost it’s funness after an hour of play.

There’s one game I’ve been playing, however, that is not only the best I’ve ever played, but also free: Tap Defense.

Buy your iPhone 3G from Your House! December 12, 2008

Remeber way back when- you know, when the first iPhone launched, when you could just buy your iPhone at home, activate and set it up without ever setting foot in a store?

Those good ol’ days are back, and just in time for the holiday season! Unfortunately though, this comes back with a lot more restrictions. For one, you can only do this for a new account or adding a line to a plan; if you want to upgrade you have to go to a store (this is really annoying, I mean seriously, why not upgrades?).

And for those of you looking to snag a $199 iPhone and then unlock and go to another network like T-Mobile, that is not as simple anymore either. AT&T will watch your order for an undefined amount of time to make sure you activate it and not just run off with a cheap iPhone (which is really not a good idea for you to do, as if they catch you, it will cost you a lot more than an iPhone :) ).

So what you think- you gonna give the gift of iPhone this holiday season (maybe convince a relative to get you one ;) )? Let us know in the comments.

Playstation Home Launching Today! December 11, 2008

Your apartment in Home

Yes!  The long awaited Playstation Home has just been released!

In case you don’t know, Home is a virtual world where you create your own avatar, who gets his/her own apartment or living shelter and can deck it out anyway he/she wants to.

One really cool feature I like is you can get a bunch of friends to send their avatar to a “theater” in the game, put a Blu-Ray disc into your Playstation, and everyone can then watch the movie on their own TV at home! You will also be able to chat with your friends and even link to their hard drives, so are able to stream their music and videos from your own ps3.

I have been waiting for Home for a long time and it is finally here! So are you excited about Home and it coming to the PS3?

iTunes Controllers December 9, 2008

picture-1Bowtie, running on my desktop with the Wet Floor theme.

For me, the most often used application on my computer is my iTunes controller. Now there are several of these applications that basically, as the name would suggest, allow you to control iTunes and since I listen to music on an almost never-ending basis, I find a good controller to be the most useful application I have. For some of my top picks, read on!

Why I Dumped My HTC Fuze for an iPhone 3G December 7, 2008

iphone-3g-pic-2

Remember a couple weeks ago I wrote about the new HTC Fuze for AT&T (review available here)? Well, on Friday I returned the Fuze and picked myself up a nice, new, 16 GB iPhone 3G. Now before you go attacking me saying that I always complain about the high iPhone rates, and that I went against my words — hear me out. Read on and I’ll explain to you everything that went through my mind before I walked out of AT&T with an iPhone.

Would You Buy an iPhone 3G for $99? December 5, 2008

iPhone 3G only $99?

Times are tough and the holiday season is fast approaching, so we expect a lot of bargain deals to hit the shelves in order to lure customers.

This deal (its actually a RUMORED deal), however, we did not see coming. As you saw in the title, the deal is an iPhone 3G for only $99 on a 2 year contract! Yup, all that sweet multi-touch, 3G, App Store, GPS and iPhone goodness for under a Benjamin, an offer so cheap because it is coming from Walmart, who are well-known for their great deals and cheaper prices. One major drawback to the deal: only 4 GB of memory (this stinks, we know).

Hey, you can’t have everything ;) , and if you plan on using your iPhone as an iPod as well, then this may not be the choice for you (4 GB is not a lot- maybe a couple movies or about 1,000 songs). We also assume you would still need to sign up for the $70 a month AT&T iPhone plan (only $30 a month if you’re adding to a family plan, as I found out when I went to an AT&T store a couple weeks ago) or some equivalent phone plan that perhaps will be cheaper per month because of the cheaper price of the phone.

But we just gotta ask- is this something you see yourself getting for the holidays assuming this is all true, and that Walmart gets this out the door soon (as in, before the end of the year)? Would you rather pay the extra $100-$200 to get an 8 GB or 16 GB? Or just ditch the iPhone all together and go for a phone like the Blackberry Bold, Pantech Matrix, Samsung Propel or other AT&T phone?  Let us know in the comments.

Remember: all of this is still a rumor at this point (though Walmart will be selling the standard iPhone 3G sometime soon).

Nokia's New Phone: The N97 December 2, 2008

Posted by Zev Rosenbaum in : Cell Phones , add a comment

Nokia has been teasing us–the public–for awhile now about its new touch screen, slider cell phone, and its finally here… not. Nokia announced on Tuesday that The N97 will not be released until the early half of 2009, and only in Europe. Everybody else, including the U.S., will have to wait even longer.

This phone has been compared to the expensive Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 (to see Chaim’s review click here) because of it’s 3.5 inch tilting touch screen and slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The Nokia N97 will also feature:

Now the problem that all us teens have? Money. The Nokia N97 will cost a whopping $695! And since it is currently not on a carrier, it might cost you even more to buy it unlocked (though compared to the Xperia X1, the N97 is cheaper :) ).

So will you wait and shell out the money when it finally arrives, or will you get a different phone right now? Sound off in the comments.
