Everyone has there own favorite applications that they find indispensable and use on an everyday basis. Here are mine:
Work Apps:
Microsoft Word 2008: This is the primary app I use for word processing. Notebook mode = note taking awesomeness, and it actually looks and feels like a real notebook (if only they would let you access all the regular features that are in Word, c’mon Microsoft, help me out here)
Photoshop Elements 4: I dabble in Photoshop from time to time, designing some desktop wallpaper or making Teentechblog’s logo. While not as full featured as say Photoshop CS3 (the professional VERY expensive one), its also is about 6 times cheaper (1/6 price for 2/3 features – math works for me lol).
(Addicting) Games:
Ok, so Mac games aren’t as popular as Windows’, but there are some real gems out there:
Peggle: WARNING: This is one of of the most– if not the most– addicting games for a computer. Ever. Simple in concept, you shoot marbles at pegs on a grid, gaining various score multipliers and powerups along the way. Once you play, you will be hooked. Trust me.
N: Another addicting game, N has you playing as a ninja, running, jumping, and doing running jumps to get to the end of the level while avoiding almost every conceivable type of hazard. Once you get the hang of it, its awesome. And its 500 levels will keep you occupied for a long, long time. (Anyone who can beat level 36-3, please give me a hand).
Media:
iTunes: Go figure this one out for yourself. Plus its the only way to sync my iPod. No brainer.
iChat: Works with AIM and Google Talk and allows video chat while making myself look like a hologram, on a roller coaster etc. And it also looks really nice.
Misc:
Ok, here are the little gems I’ve collected on my hard drive over time:
Think: Wrote about this already here, but Think is great for productivity when you need to block out everything else. Shame i can’t get one of these for non-digital life too.
TotalTunes Control: This is another favorite, allowing me to control my music from anywhere. I know i could use the dashboard, but i don’t like it as much. This basically puts music controllers anywhere you want: menu bar, small pop-up, in the desktop, etc. Works perfectly, and well, especially in Spaces, where i can call it up anywhere, not just in one place.
Mindnode: a flow chart generator enabling you to make simple and beautiful flow charts. great for studying.
Star Wars Title Sequence Generator: This is one of my all-time favorites. As the name implies, it allows you to generate your own Star Wars title sequence. Absolutely clutch for school video projects. See below for an example.
