If I may add my own reply, I too have seen various methods of employing the internet for making money. Several months ago my school was in a state of obsession over sites where u fill in ads, surveys, and trials in return for cash and prizes. The work was easy and the money was notable. I have another friend who is a bit of an entrepreneur and he employs the internet however possible. Lately, he has been buying up ads and tags through Google Ads and though he puts in a considerable amount of time, I think he makes thousands of dollars. Hes an exception though. For the most part, people in my community do resort to the typical teen jobs of yesteryear as they are always in demand and do not require excessive amounts of searching to acquire these positions. With the insecurities that lure in the minds of all (and rightly so I would add), discourage people from finding employment over the internet. The risks and on the wayside nature of these jobs are preventing such a market from expanding. So I would conclude that while there are isolated cases of people really making serious money, the idea has yet to be mainstreamed enough to really develop into an actual trend.

Hi, sorry this has taken so long for a reply. In regard to you question on how todays teens are using technology in their lives for jobs, I do see more and more of my school friends turning to the internet for work. For example, Tzvi Solomon (who is now also helping us with the "business side" of the blog) runs an online gift registry site that is a way for people to sell gifts they receive that they don't necessarily want to keep. I also have another friend that works for a new cell phone company called zzzPhone (they allow the consumer to customize the cell phone to their needs- at pretty good prices I might add) instead of buying just what their respective cell phone carrier sells (in the very near future we hope to have more on this). Those are just some of the teens that I personally know of, and I am sure that there are many more teens also using the technology at their disposal to make some money.

I'm not a teenager, but I'm still really interested in what teens think about tech. My questions/request would be to find out a little bit more about how kids are using technology to help them make money. When I was a teen, I spent my summers lifeguarding, but if I was a teen today I'd be leveraging the internet to try and create stay at home businesses and what not. I don't know whether teens are really taking advantage of these opportunities, but it'd be interested to learning from someone in the trenches about how technology is changing teen employment trends. Are kids cashing in on these opportunities or are they still turning to fast food for spending money?
